Default 4x4 question

Have a 2000 sportsman 4x4. This winter was riding around in snow and ice seemed to do pretty good. But stuck it in a snow bank and when I tried to back out no power to the front. Got it out pretty easy just pulling on the rack and giving it gas so it wasnt stuck that badly. Then later on jacked up the rear end and gave some gas and the front would pull a little in foward didnt give it much gas as I didnt want to pull it off the jack. But i didnt try it in reverse for the way it was siting to close to some other things. My question would be does the polairs have 4x4 if going in reverse?

Default 4x4 question

welcome to the forum. the polaris has a yellow button(called an override) on the left handle bar that you must push in when you are in awd(4x4)to make the awd to work. this is only needed to be pushed and held in when you are in reverse for the awd to work and it will go into awd in forward w/out pushing the button. this button is also made as a reverse overide button which means if you push it in while in reverse, you can go as fast backwards as forward. think of it as a safety feature.
