Hey guys I posted on here last week about my ecm catching firing. Well just liek you guys all said polaris wouldnt do anything about it. Anyhow I got my new ECM today but the main plug for it got melted and wont fit. DOes anybody know if there is a way to just buy the plug and splice it onto it instead of buying a whole new wiring harness. Also if you can where can you buy it? Thanks

May I ask what year and model Plaris this was?
Anyway with the wiring harness Try to get Polaris to cover that .......I know they did nothing for your ECM but they should show some responsiblty for the plug/harness.
Did you contact Polaris via a dealer or directly?
You know a different Dealer may have got better results....
As for just buying the plug and splice it in you can try a snowmobile/ATV salvage Yard.
I myself would try and get the full harness, due to problems later on down the road(plan on keeping it long?) If you plan on getting rid of it anytime soon ,just splice it in.
However, Some trouble down the road may include, corrosion, bad connections, moisture or water in the splices, common GREEN copper...and loose connections....
Do you know how long the whole harness would end up being? and the price?
Thanks ....cAper........

If the terminals in the plug are OK and the wiring is OK to the plug then You can release the terminals out of the plug and install a new one.
If You do have to splice in a new piece of harness be sure to stagger the splices 2 to 4 inches apart,This will keep You from having a big knot in the harness and it will also stabilize the splices.
Be sure to solder the wires and install heatshrink over the splices.
To make a neat splice I bare the wires back about 3/4 to 1 inch and then shove the butt ends together so the wires intertwine,I then give them a bit of a twist on each side to secure them and then apply the solder and heat shrink. This is the best method I`ve developed over a lot of years of repairing wireharnesses.
I`ve been in the mechanic business for a lot of years and You do see some real funny looking ideas of a splice job.LOL

Mine is a 04 sportsman 500. I had contacted several differented dealers I got one to put in a special claim for my ecm and polaris denied it. Why do you say that polaris should cover anything that has to do with the wiring harness? The only thing wrong with it is that it is melted due to the fire from the ecm that they would not cover.
