When Polaris,brought out the digital speedo in 2000 they made it a acting component of the AWD system for some crazy reasoning.

The speedo must be there and work to have AWD.

I think Polaris knows the speedo is located in such a place that it will be the first thing to smash even in a minor rollover ,being that the speedo is located at the highest point of the ATV.

At $300 per replacement Polaris rakes the cash in.

In 99 the speedos were analog cable input types, if they broke or guit it was up to you to fix it or not,because it effect nothing with the AWD system.

Well damn.. That has me more concerned now.

you might be able to unhook the wire harness in back then remove it form the pod and use as mentioned a hairdryer to dry it out and then take some clear silcone on the edges when its suppose to be sealed and let dry snd reinstall into the pod. just an idea.
Thats what i'm wanting to try. No one has actually done so yet?

Not to worry if the speedo ever quits there is a rewiring bypass the speedo trick that people do that will get your AWD back without buying a new Speedo.
