1996 300 explorer starter stuck cannot get it off ATV.
Ok I have taken just about everything I can think off to remove the starter. I took the recoil off and then took the 2 bolts that I thought held the starter and removed them. Took everything on the backside of the starter off (underneath the atv) that I thought could be holding it but I cannot budge it one bit.
Do I have to take the flywheel that the starter engages to off also? The only othe thing I see way at the top of the starter is one small bolt but I think it is part of the starter housing.
I though the Asm., Gear Shaft that engages to the flywheel would some how slip out under the flywheel but now such luck.
I have to admit I was about to take a great big hammer to drive the starter out backwards but thought I had better ask first before I do that the parts for these little suckers are to darn expenseive to be breaking more than I am fixing.
Any Idea's anyone has would be great. We hoped to go on a ride long family ride on Easter Sunday if I can get it going. Thanks in advance.
