Quadovator temp guage

Default Quadovator temp guage

I see alot of you guys have the quatovator temp guage.

Did you exchange your thermostat cover for the pretapped one ready to go, or tap it yourself??

Do you have to drain the coolant to install these?

when i put mine on my 06' i did the swap out for the predriller cover just because it was easier at the time. i beleave (cant remember for sure) but you had to drain some of it if not all. just make sure you use at leaste a 50/50 mix antifreeze as polaris uses a 60/40 pre mix which is better. make 100% sure you get all the air out as well or you will have masssive overheating issues.

I too used their swap service. As far as I remember, it was practically a free exchange... just a matter of shipping. I'm sure you could DIY, but I didn't really see the point of risking it.

You're going to have to drain some, or should I say that some will come out of the thermostat housing when u take it off. At the time, I was fixing an intermittent overheating problem, and choose to drain and flush the cooling system along with some other tweaks. Depending on how old your bike is, flushing out the coolant might not be a bad idea anyway.

I tapped my own, it was easy. And yes some of the coolant comes out, I just drained mine and put it back in, there is a drain on the radiator.

Default temp guage

I want to order this temp guage but do not fully understand how to refill the coolant properly without getting air in the system as you guys mentioned.

I just got my atv back from the dealer after they fixed an overheating issue and topped the coolant off properly. The last thing I want to do is cause another overheating problem.

Is it fairly simple

The hardest part is using a holesaw to cut the hole for the gauge. You shouldn't have a air lock problem, when you pour the coolant back into the radiator, you won't have a problem, if you have leftover coolant and the rad is full, shake the machine to work loose any air pockets.....

I am not to worried about cutting the guage in, I just dont understand how you get air in the cooling system causing overheating probs. Did you also order the fan overide switch with the indicator light. I think I will. What are all those extra switches you have. All I have is a rear work light switch??

if you run your bike after you refill the antifrezze and leave the cap loose and let the bike idle and cycle thur the fan turning on and off a couple of times, and then retighten the cap you should have all the air out. this is the way i did mine and it worked good.

After you drain the coolant and put it back into the radiator, you should not have any left over, what comes out will go back in, and if the radiator is full and you still have left over coolant you have a air pocket, all you have to do is shake the machine to get it out.

Reverse override, rear light switch, fan override, hand warmer and thumb warmer switches.
