i own a 04 polaris scrambler 500

to get to the trails we have to go around 2 minutes on a main road to get there...so needles to say we have to go fast...now i noticed twice the handle bars lock up and it makes a hard left turn and runs me off the road if i cant stop in time..its very scary and dangerous (not good at spelling)....i have not tried on the trails or nothing to scared it will lock and i will hit a tree.it has happened in awd and without being in awd.i bought it used from tom clark's dealership it is sold "as is" i took it back within 24 hrs to get it checked and they wanted 600$ for a warranty...im in debt buying the actual quad...so i cant afford a warranty.if someone has experianced this before i would greatly appreciate if you can try and help diagnose this problem so i can get it fixed without being scared of going on the road...i have to go slow..like 10-20 mph for it not to lock..i risk getting caught.thank you in advanced for helping

hey guys just checkin in wit everyone...well i went and bought demand drive fluid (better known as hub fluid) it did not work!! My buddy said looks like the cv joint boot is bad on the one side and they tried to pack it with grease ...i think thats what he said...so im takin it back to the dealership so they can look at it and give me a deff problem of what is wrong.the quad will sit for around 5 months while i try to pay the ****er off...i didnt buy off craigslist figured buying from a dealer if there was a problem within 24 hrs they would work with me bout fixing it...should of just went on craigslist =/

If the boot is ripped and you are having steering problems. Make them replace the cv joint. The symptoms you have described tells me your cv joint is going to fail..soon. If they are not going to back up a recent sale, you may want to report the to the better business bureau...

i appreciate the input...who is the better business bureau? And if the quad was sold "as is" can i still have a case? I mean i went up there 25 hrs after i had it and they said 30$ to look at it being it came with no warranty

You can do a search online and file complaints against registered businesses for questionable business practices. Was this actually a ATV dealer? Because if it was I am amazed that they stay in business like this. Even buying an item as is from a dealer normally leaves a consumer with some sort of an assumption that they are not being sold a complete lemon.

YES...AN ACTUAL DEALER Pennsylvania Honda Suzuki Polaris Victory Motorcycle ATV Wetbike Dealer - Tom Clark Motorsports AND I THOUGHT THE SAME THING...THIS IS THE REASON I BOUGHT FROM THEM AND NOT SAY OFF OF CRAIGSLIST...FIGURED I WOULD BE SAFE BUYING FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER/BUSINESS

Glad to hear you're back in action DJ. It's ashame you had to go through that with them. Did you have it fixed at TOm Clark? How bad did they bend you over the barrel?
Tom Clarks is a huge dealership, and I think they suck. They just have too much going on down there. The sevice dept. takes forever and you're just dollar signs to them. They bought the Polaris franchise off of a small dealer that was close by. It was the worst thing that ever happend to us faithful Polaris riders. That place knew you by name, and even knew about the quads they sold. If you had a problem they service guy would get on the phone and see if he could help you out b4 you brought it in. You dont hear that much these days. Sure do miss those guys and girls at Andys Polaris!
