Just put in a new uni air filter into my 07 sportsman 500. seems to fit a little strange. did the research and the model number is correct. NU-8503ST. any one have any similar issues?

if that dosnt fit good and lets dirt into the engine, it could be trouble down the road. i know i have read a bunch of people have used them or k&n and most say the k&n were better but i myself dont know for sure. imo

What do you mean by strange? Is it loose around the rubber collar?

around where it fits onto the intake it doesnt seen to fit as well as the stock filter. the new one is snug, but i think it has to do with it being a little shorter in length. my fear is that it may vibrate off. but i'm hoping im very wrong.

"Snug" is a good thing. Do you have a clamp that goes around filter and rubber intake?

Being short might be an issue if it doesn't rest on the back support correctly. Hopefully the clamp will hold it.

i do have the clamp, but the new filter doesnt rest on the suport. however i do like the fact that the vibration sound that the other filter made is gone.

Well, if the clamp holds the filter on there, you should be fine. I would check it periodically to make sure it doesn't jiggle loose and come off.

Can you not add a bracket of sorts to the support which would allow your new filter to sit on as the original did ?
