Default Winch cable question while plowing

Why cant you spool the winch the opposite way, with the cable coming off the top of the spool instead of the bottom? It would put less of an angle on the cable while plowing. The winch has a planetary gear and electric motor. Both of these should be just as efficient/ powerful in either direction. Is this thought correct? If this worked there would be hardly any angle to the cable and the cable would last for years. Hopefully.

im guessing, but you could turn the cable around and just switch your cables on the winch. this would make it so your in would be your out. it is easy to do as it will work either direction. imo

never really though of that, but I accidentally did that when I put on my new cable, and left it for a while

IMO it won't hurt a thing
