maybe try welding a piece to the leftovers and use it as a handle to yank on it?

there was another person who just went thur the same thing not too long ago. maybe have to use pry bars on each side to pop it out. careful not to do any damage as its only alum. cases. imo

I had to replace the inboard cv joint when it started clicking, I got the axle out but the plunging joint (cv cup that is attached to the tranny housing) wouldn't come out no matter what I did. If your sp is like mine, there is a groove at the splined male end that holds a spring ring at the end of the axle that snaps into place when installed in the tranny housing (i hope that makes sense). From what I was told, sometimes it gets soil build up in the groove and prevents the ring from being compressed when you try to pry the end out.
So I cleaned & inspected the "cup" for damage, it was good so I just replaced the inner joint & boot and was good to go.
hope this helps.
If you are talking about the complete removal of the the outboard joint & axle , pm me and I'll try to send you complete instructions. Assuming you are talking about an 96-03 sp.
