Oh boy, here we go again! LOL! My buddy just ordered a Warn 2500 RT with synthetic rope from Rocky MT atv for a great price (around $300 with coupons....best he could find online) for his 2008 sp800. I will probly order the same when my well crafted polaris pos chinese made wanna be warn winch leaves me stranded!

That guy on E-Bay (moto-alliance) says a 4000lb winch he sells will fit with cutting about 1/4" on the plastic on grill

I would say nothing smaller than a 3000. Just to be on the safe side. had to lift my buddies 500 sportsman out of a hole while having the machine hang from a tree (long story) and he "had" a 2500. that was the last time that winch worked.

If the winch comes with a synthetic rope then it's a XT 2500 the RT comes with a steel cable.
I have a warn xt 2500 and it's worked great and recently i bought a xt 3000 for my other quad and it's been pretty good so far.

Has anyone had their winches stall out? I guess I have had a 1500 lb on an older machine and never stalled it out. I agree a bigger winch will last longer being it is worked less.
