Default AWD light

On my 01 sportsman 500 HO the light for AWD will turn on and off randomly when awd should be on.... the light is mostly on....but when the light turns off while driving does this mean that the AWD is not on?? Switch broken??

since the switch is "ON" and then the light is flickering. id first check the switch. since the light can only be on with the switch. then if the switch is fine check the bulb. but it soulds like theres either water, or some kinda corshion on the connection. clean it, and add diaelectric grease to it. see if that helps it.

if your spinning you should beable to tell if its shutting off. if your driving at road speed "im not shure on this answer" but it may be shutting off at a certain speed. i know the newer sportsman do. but dont know if the older one do also.

i think you'll find when the light is out you dont have awd. i would look for a corroeded wires/switch as well as stated above.

The light is not flickering but it will be one most the time and then turn off for a little bit like 10 sec to 1 min and then is on until i shut if off... Could fluid be low in hubs or anything like that...and am I checking the switch on handle bars or some place else...I dont think the handle bar switch would be corroded...

there should be power still going to the hubs even w/ low fluid, so my guess is that wouldnt be causing it. the switch could have corroded contacs. i would still check it just to rule it out. imo

Gave you the part number and several places to check on this small indicator bulb on your other post on this. It is hard to find one now.
