Pulled the Trigger on a 2009 SP 850 XP Sunset Red

 Happy Days!!! Ok...I finally pulled the trigger and bought a new 2009 Sportsman 850 XP non-EPS in Sunset Red.

I am very happy with the deal...and only have to travel about 60 miles north, because a local dealer would not drop the price. Actually...I was shocked they wouldn't even try and counter and meet in the middle. Oh well...there loss...and where I bought my XP...I purchased my previous ATV (Suzuki QuadRunner 500). They are a good dealership...and I almost forgot about them.

As part of the deal...I am getting 20% Off accessories when I go to pick it up next Saturday (will be a LONG week for sure). List I have so far...

1. Front and Rear Deluxe brushguards
2. Front deep cargo box
3. Rear rack extender
4. Fender bag
5. WARN RT30

Tomorrow...I go and pick-up my new '09 PJ 5'x12' utility trailer with 4' ramp. Got a great deal on that too!

So...almost time for riding!!!:D I am so excited... :D

That sounds like a fine piece of Machinery! Happy riding!

bentarrow 05-08-2009 10:05 PM

I can't understand why if the economy is so bad some dealers will not try to deal. A big part of the enjoyment in the first few rides is knowing you got a deal your happy with. Don't do like I did the first time loading, take it easy on the gas or you may do a wheelie into the trailer.

HawkeyeRider 05-08-2009 10:08 PM

Grats Biz!!! It sounds like u got a good deal for shopping around!

FunRide 05-08-2009 10:46 PM

Biz, You're gunna love that thing!

stendori 05-09-2009 05:56 AM

theres some serious money spent so now go out and enjoy it and tell us how you like it after a few rides.

bitterfitter 05-09-2009 09:08 AM

Good luck with that beast. I freakin love mine!! Going out to do the loop in about 2 hours.

Ruggo 05-09-2009 10:01 AM

Congratulations getting the new ride, I am sure you are going to love it!

Sounds like a nice setup. Be sure to let us know how the first ride goes and don't forget the pictures.

DavidXP 05-09-2009 10:24 AM

don't forget the hand guards!!

Congrats it was a long time coming!
You'll have a blast!!

MooseHenden 05-09-2009 10:49 AM

Great news there, Biz! Hope you enjoy it as much as others here do.

700 sportsman 05-09-2009 12:34 PM

post up some pics when ya get it home

David- what type of hand guards do you have, I have been thinking of getting some powermadd ones

bitterfitter 05-09-2009 06:42 PM

Put 40 more miles on my XP today. Muddy hill climbs and wide open fire roads mostly. With the rear cargo box on it will only do 75 wide open. With the box off it'll do 79. Maybe 75 is fast enough though. The more I ride it the more I love the darn thing. I definitely need better tires though. I'm thinking bighorns.

Nice bitter. Wish the trails were open here....uhhhhh.

79 is pretty damn fast. I have not been near the top yet.

Keep us posted with what you end up with tires-wise. Pretty sure I'm going to run the OEMs this season and buy something else next spring. Maybe IPT will have 26x10 14s by then for the rear end.

bitterfitter 05-09-2009 08:27 PM

I'll probably endure this season with OEMs and get the Bighorns before deer season. The Terrathons aren't too awful, but they don't do good in deep snow at all.

:D Thanks everyone for the well wishes! :D

Took delivery of the PJ 5'x12' trailer with 4' ramp today. Pulls like a dream empty...so should be even better with my XP 850 loaded.

YES...pictures will be forth coming!!! Lots of pictures too! Both of the XP and the PJ. This goes without saying, but will be adding pics of my daughter's 2008 Outlaw 50cc too! ;)

OBTW: Just found out that during the month of May...if you purchase a WARN winch...you get a rebate. Go to there website...and download the rebate form. I found that out because I am buying a RT30 for the XP!

Thanks again...

Congrats BIZ!

I can relate to the excitement. It was soo much fun over a year ago
to go and buy the new 08' 800 when it came out! No buyer's remorse
at all! I like you had to travel about 2hrs away to save $1300. Well worth the
$60 in extra gas. Its a shame you have to do that though, I mean its all Polaris right?
Those dealers should at least be able to match other "Polaris" dealership prices especially if they are exclusive POLARIS dealers. Same deal here man! You wouldn't be in the DC/MD/Va area? If so let me guess? Ridersville Cycle? No one in this mid-atlantic area can touch their prices!

Enjoy ride my friend!

Cheers,

R'

Rutcutter 05-10-2009 06:22 PM

Congrats man!! Gonna be a long week for sure.. Did your dealer have to do a transfer or order it direct?

cornicejumper 05-10-2009 06:31 PM

You wont regret it! Got mine in the middle of feb. Probably got about 500 miles on it now, not one single problem.

I believe it was a transfer type deal...but not certain. All I know...is they found one at another dealer...and need to go pick it up. One nice thing...is that they are selling the machine as if it were in the store. No extra fee's...or add-on costs.

Thanks again for all the well wishes guys! YES...will be a long week...

Well...I purchased the WARN RT30 and KFI winch mount off eBay. They have shipped...and should be here next week.

I called the dealer today asking for the Parts Dept. Asked if they had the Polaris Accessories in stock...and NO...not one Polaris Accessory in stock. So...placed the order and paid (20% off), but they will not arrive in time when I take delivery of my NEW XP 850. So...those accessories will have to be installed the following weekend.

What I find hard to believe is that they did not have one Polaris accessory!

Glad I called today...and found out. Because that might have put a sour taste in my mouth on Saturday when I take delivery of the machine. Now...I can just concentrate on taking delivery!

Congrats biz!
Just so you know, the fender bag for the XP's is attached with pop rivets under the front rack or box. It's easy to do and the directions give the location to drill the holes. I really like mine!

Humm...I didn't know that. Sounds like a nice secure way of attaching the fender bag. Thanks for the heads up...

Not new anymore Biz. Go get that beast dirty.

I have vivid memories of a similar night in January when I brought mine home. I think I remember my hands shaking and sweating a bit as it was being loaded up. Pretty exciting stuff.

I got a chest / shoulder protector the other day. Figure it's easy enough to put on and pretty comfortable. Worth the protection. -Ride safe.

Ruggo 05-16-2009 06:01 PM

Biz that is a sweeeeet looking setup you have there! The red looks great .... Congratulations!

Hefty....What are prolockers and how do they work? I can venture a guess, but would like to hear from an owner.

HeftyLefty 05-17-2009 10:54 PM

ProLockers - here is a review.

Very nice Biz.

You could also look into ratchetstrapssuck.com or look at the E track system for tie downs. Personally I just use some nice wide straps I bought on ebay from a guy in Wisconsin. My trailer has too many uses and I load it different directions sometimes, so those type of tie down systems don't work for me.

trainfixerjer 05-18-2009 04:13 PM

WOW,sweet ride !!!!! I hope to get a 550 or 850 xp next season!!!!
