Default Compare the Scrambler!!!!!

I am in the market for a scrambler 500 ho 06 and up. I would like to know how it compares to the likes of other quads I have ridden to give me an idea of what kind of straight line speed I can expect. These are the quads I would like somebody to compare the scrammy to. Predator, Raptor 350, and KFX400 or LTZ400. I understand the scrammy is no track quad and I understand that all of the quads mentioned above will out corner the scrammy I would just like to now how it compaires in straight line speed and low end power. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you are considering a used 500 Scrambler go with a 01-03 they have more of the GOOD parts on the stock.
Compared to the ones you mentioned you will be able to hang with any on the trails and out do them in mud.Straight line performance after a clutch kit you will be able to stay righgt with them up to around 60mph.Once you ride with the guys on the import machines you will realize the Scrambler is a decent machine but it does nothing great but does everything good.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I was hoping to hear. I just want to keep up. I really like the idea of 4x4, I live in FL so there is mud all over the place. Also, do you recommend the WORKS struts, are they worth the $400. I know that aftermarket shocks is one of the best upgrades possible to any ATV but what about these struts?

Highly recommend either WORKS or FOX front struts.Along with the FOX rear shock.That is one reason to look for a 01-03 they still have that shock as stock part.The other biggest improvement is a TEAM roller secondary and clutching the primary to the way you ride.
A pipe is nice too but you will gain more in clutching than the pipe.You get one drop me a line and I can set you up on ways to clutch it and which way to go instead of dropping a ton on a clutch kit.

I just recently bought on 02 scrambler 500 4x4 for my girlfriend to ride. i really like the scrambler but since you are asking specifically about straight line speed, i will tell you that in a drag race it will not keep up with my 04 predator.

Not everyone wants to drop that kind of $$$$$.Besides a properly set up scrambler is hard to beat on trails

Well I've ridden and raced several Scrambler 400s and 500s, and my Wife's Raptor 350 will run with them within a quad length until top speed where the 350 will slowly pull away...

Neither one of the Scramblers can even give my z400 a run for the money..... I can flat give either one a head start and blow right by them by the time I click 3rd gear. It is not even a race really.....

And the Predator is even faster than the z400 so it will easily smoke a Scrammy.

The Raptor uses the same 348cc motor as the 350 Briun,Big Bear,grizzly that yamaha has been using for 20 years, and is rated at 26hp can see it even being close to a scrambler.

99 350 Big Bear vs 09 350 specs 1999 Yamaha Big Bear ATVs

The Predator has a different 48hp 500 DOHC motor then the Scramblers 36hp SOHC Motor.

Polaris (2007)

Hawkeye 300=17
trailblazer 330=19 hp
Phoenix 200=13 hp
sportsman 450=29.7 hp
Sportsman 500 Ho (carB) 34.5hp
Sportsman 500 EFI/x2/Scrambler 500=36 hp
Predator 500 = 48 HP
Outlaw 500 = 48.6 HP
700 EFI= 44 HP
800 EFI/ 800x2 = 50.2 HP

Yamaha (2007)

450 Kodiak = 26 Hp
350 bruin = 21.3 hp
350 raptor = 26.8 hp
yfz 450 = 38.6 hp
700r = 47 hp
660 = 40.9 hp

Granted the Raptors 348 is hoped up to 26hp do to a larger 36mm carb and other things but still a Scrambler should have its way with it.
