Unhappy 99 Scrambler died, why?

Hey everyone,
My name is James, I am new here. Me and my Wife are Scrambler owners, not very familiar with the mechanics of them yet. This weekend we took out our bikes and I was cruising my 400 about 50 MPH and it died, just like someone turned the key off. After I stopped, it fired right up and ran fine, I took off again and it did the same thing at about 50 MPH. this time it didnt restart and still wont. I have what appears to be good spark and I also have fuel. still wont start. Although I havent done a comp. test, that appears to be ok too. I'm stumped and was wondering if you Guys have any good ideas before I take it to a technician. thanks alot.

Check the post on the spark plug. On my cousin's 02 400 the clip inside spark plug wire boot wears the top off of the spark plug and it looses connection. Especially at that high speed with the vibration.

Definitely check the plug cap like mentioned above, then do a compression test, you might have lost a ring and or piston. Also, keep your eye on the guy selling parts from a Scrambler on E-Bay, seen a cylinder in his parts list

When you do a comp check it needs to be at least 100psi to run 120psi to run good

Well I tore it apart today and found the rings seized in on side of the piston. looks like the oil injection may have failed. Can I bypass the oil injection easy and just mix my fuel? Thanks.

Lots of people do,they mix it at 40:1 if you do a search on this site.

I have owned many 2stroke Polaris and pump failures are very uncommon.Just keep the calbe adjusted and clean the housing wherre the pump is out and if the cable starts to fray change it.
But if you MUST premix do it 40:1

To check drain gas tank.PUt in a gal. or so of premix, unhook injector hose from carb and run the engine and watch for oil comeing out the hose.
If you see smoke or smell 2stroke oil burning with the pump now it is a good indication your pump is working..
To set the pump just line up the marks on te arm and housing where the arm moves as soon as the cable starts to move.

Also, make sure you check the needle bearings in the connecting rod now, cylinder is removed. Now for the good stuff, bore that baby out 1st over, stuff some V-Force 3 reeds in it, clutch 'er for extreme madness, rebuild the clutches, new belt, drop jet size from 220 stock to a 200 main-depending on your elevation, check the sprockets, put her back together, run a tank of 40:1 pre-mix with pump set at 40:1, vary the speeds, then a tank of 110 race fuel, and tell us what you think!!!!
