Highlifter spring install update.
#1
First off it's been a while since i have been on here and I am liking the new look!. About 4 months ago i bought Highlifter's complete spring kit for my 07 800.
Install. The front was very straight forward simple removal of the old springs but the added length made getting everything to line up and compress down while starting the nut a little difficult. I ended up hooking the winch cable to a tie down point on the garage floor and used a floor jack to push up on the spring. You do have to remove all of the front plastic for ease of access. The rear was a little more involved. I would love to smack the guy on the assembly line that put the rear top shock bolt in so it hits the muffler 1/4 of the way out. I had to remove all the rear plastic just to get to all the bolts holding the cross-over pipe loose to get the top bolts out. Once the springs were out I had to use some pretty heavy duty spring compressors to get the factory spring off. My dad and I ended up using 3 individual car spring compressors and worked around the spring at the same time till it compressed enough to get the retainer out.
Outcome: 100% worth every penny and minute of time installing. For a heavy guy like me these were a must. The 800 does not bottom out anymore. I can skip across whoops like a dirt bike, and when i come up to cross cuts or dug outs in the trail the faster i hit them the smother they are. There were a few surprise ones on Saturdays ride that I thought were going to toss me until i hit them. The only thing I have yet to see is how it rides with a passenger.

Well, like you I also a BIG guy (350/lbs now) down about 30 lbs and still
more to go!
I really think my rear setup helped to contribute to my flip over up a steep hill since
it squatted more with the softer setting. First thing I did was adjust the shocks back
at camp.
I really want to get the HL rear springs for my SP800. The key issue is my overall center of gravity (front to back), and if you haven't considered that you may want to inspect so you won't be off center climbing hills. I have the HD springs for the front (2" lift) and the rear is now on its highest setting.
Cheers,
