No I did the full change. Tank, Crankcase, cleaned screen, new filter, primed. I'm thinkin its what mega xp said. I didn't run it enough after the two quarts. then added a little.

when i did oil changes on my old 00 335 sportsman 2qt filled it perfect. and iv never screwed the dipstick all the way in. never had an issue. my new one i do the same. and its right at the full. insted of pulling the plug for the engine. i just ran it for about 2sec to pump the oil out of the engine. but then also evon if you do drain the engine, and oil tank. theres still gona be some old oil in the lines. your never gona get it all out.

I just watched that guy on youtube as he demonstrates checking the oil level without screwing the cap down. That is an incorrect way to check the oil level on a Polaris 500 according to my factory service manual. It says specifically in bold letters "the dipstick must be screwed completely in to insure accurate measurement". Are other Polaris models different or is this guy completely incompetent?
Needless to say, I won't be patronizing Cottonwood Motorsports if I ever get to Arizona!

As I stated earlier you must screw dipstick all the way in! I know what is happening on the the guys that dont! They crank the machine for a couple minutes and stick the dipstick in and it will show to the correct level, but if you let if run for about 4-5 minutes and do the same again it will show low! They are not giving it time to fully circulate the oil through the system! It might be a trivial point, but give the engine time to circulate and screwing in the dipstick will give the accurate measurement. Yes usually 2 quarts(with tank and sump drained or pumped out by running engine for about 15 seconds) will put it on the correct level. I do oil changes on a daily basis and have shown customers the same thing about checking the level who have done as some posters have done and they have seen what I am talking about! OPT

My 2009 500efi did exactly the same thing. I changed oil. Needed to add a little more than the 2 qt recommended to get it to full. Rode for a day and it was high. I don't worry about it since its close. In the future I won't add. I'll just do 2 qt. Yes I screw all the way in to check just like the manual says.

The 700 & 800 take two Quarts......Polaris says their dipstick is not accurate and to put 2 quarts in at oil change.

No worrys. I thought the same thing with my 07 sp500. It will always read a 1/4" above the full mark with 2qts. If I don't thread the cap on it's right on the money. The longer I run it the higher it reads 30+ min. If I let it cool down it's right back to where it should be. Go figure???

Default oil level

Yeah.....the oil's pumped into the oil tank so it will read high after you shut it off...except the twins, their dipsticks just aren't acurate.

Also, I was looking for a substitute oil for the front hiliard gearcase and got on their corp web and they say Mobile 424 Fluid which is what goes in my 1968 International tractor! Makes ya wonder if they even know.....
