Im getting ready to make some changes to my 2000 Xplorer 400. I want a little more top end because
I ride with several other friends with Xplorer 400's and they seem to have a little more top end than I do. Right now everyone is stock. I weigh a bit more than them as well. What king of outcome can I expect from a new pipe, Clutch kit and KN air filter. I thought maybe someone had done this before. Will it effect performance on all ranges?
Any information wil help. thanks

Paul, I have basically all the mods your talking about. What will it do? How about high range wheelies with a winch! Top end 73.4mph, that was on level blacktop with it jetted on the edge. Plug was a very light tan. With normal jetting it will run in the mid to upper 60's, all speeds are per Magellan 315 GPS. I think with a few air box mods (twin snorkeling) the top end will improve some more. I whent with a Dynoport pipe because it is quiet and fits very well. The only thing I don't like about it is, the spark arrestor sticks out the rear about 3 inch and I'm afraid I'll wreck it if I wheelie over. The main improvment over stock is quickness it really hauls *ss to 55mph.

I just installd a PSI pipe and silencer.I would NOT recommend that company again.I made myself perfectly clear on the phone when I ordered the pipe that I will soon be a certified ASI safety instructor and my Xplorer has to be quite.I also said I needed a spark arrester. The pipe is very loud, they never sent a spark arrester either.I called back several times and was put on hold.I fianlly talked to a gal and she is suppose to find me a spark arrester, lets hope so.

Now the pipe did make a huge differance in power, but I can do without the noise,
Bill

Bill, HPD makes a 94db silencer that is US forestry approved. Maybe it would fit your PSI pipe? just a thought

Im not sure which pipe Im getting. I'm letting my Polaris dealer handle it. He said that he gets them from hotseat performance and will charge me the same price that hotseat will charge for the pipe. Anyway, if there is anything I should know about hotseats pipes that would be great. Any good experiences or bad.

thanks

Paul, I have a 00 Explorer with rcr type air box mods, Dynoport cheater pipe,(fairly quite) k&n filter with outerware, black PSI primary spring, Boyesen reeds and a rear +2 sprocket. It has Bearclaw tires and fairly heavy front bumper and it will still wheelie in high range. The pipe made the biggest difference of all.

I spoke to my dealer again today. He has ordered the pipe from AAeon that he says supposedly makes a pipe specifically for the explorer.

thanks
