Thats the same conclusion I came to! But my quad is rarely left unattended where someone can steal my gas. I think if I had the packs on a jeep or truck that I drove around town, etc, then I'd probably get them.

Nice engineering though!

You all say Rotopax mounts are better quality. Well I bought them when i got the containers. But they came boxed in Kolpin boxes? I then compared the product to the Kolpin mounts online and they look completely identical, UNLESS when Jason left Kolpin company maybe he uses their kit as a core and adds to it or something?

thoughts?

They are a completely different product. Perhaps they used the Kolpin originally, but of the few people I know who bought their stuff recently they are all a new design.

From what I understand they are also a different size - I don't think the Rotopax mounts will fit the Kolpin tanks.

The nwe RotoPax mounts are different (aluminum). The Roto-pax will fit on a Kolpin mount, the Kolpin will not fir on a Roto-Pax mount.

I went with the one gallon pax over the 4 gallon because of the headlight. At least I have use of the headlight till I turn sharp. If you guys decide to install one in the front box you will have to cut into the support egg crate to make it fit I now have four more gallons

The one gallon on my unit will not fit until you cut away at the bottom of the upper front lid you only need 1/4 inch for the lid to shut. The rear box will hold the others pax Im making straps to go inside the rear box to keep the pax tied down I have a sthill saw straps misc in the box.

Was that on the side of the front box or in the middle of the box that you tired?

I do not think you can install it on the side because on my front box lid there is a metal support that gets in the way.I did try it in the center and lid wont shut I have the 2010 front lid if this makes a difference yours might have more room.
