If the can leaks or you spill a little on the outside of the can it will stink up anything else you keep in the storage box. I've seen several trips ruined with contaminated meals and clothing. Keep the gas cans outside if you can!

I guess the XP has less clearance for the headlight - on the older units the headlight works fine over one 4 gal tank (or two 2 gals).

It was not a issue on my 2008 no. But I would like to find a way to haul fuel in the front box. I do lots of night driving and do not want to block the light.

I have over 2K miles logged total using rotopax and never had a leak. Both on WI & MI trails as well as the very rough trails in KY. That also includes a nasty spill (15 foot drop and 20 feet airborne at 40mph) that put me in the hospital & even a year later I still have swelling from. Take my work for it, they don't leak.

Default Rotopax 2gallon

I just ordered 2 - 2 gallon Rotopax (Gasoline) - I of course know of the factory hardware, but have a question. I see where some riders velcro them down, other bungee them down. Do the velcro straps or bungees work well?

Thanks!

I also have 2-2 gal. packs. I use the dual mounting bracket on my front box. I don't know about velcro or bungees, but the packs will not come loose using the mounts. I did not test them quite the way Thor did, but I did put them to the test this spring. They absolutely do not leak at all.
