i have a 1994 polaris 400l 4x4 i noticed the fan is not running , i checked the fan with a jump box and the fan works is there a fuse some where i'm missing? also does anyone have a used repair manual they dont need any more that i can buy from them if so please email me at pintopaul@verizon.net thanks paul

 

what about if you unplug the wire from the sensor on the rear of the head? does the fan come on then?

 

no but if you want you can run it too a toggle switch... but first i would check your radiator fluid.. in them bikes the temp sensor that makes the fan come on is at the top of the radiator in the middle you'll see it when you take the cover off to get to the radiator... or like i said run a toggle switch and run it as needed

 

thanks i just dont want to cook the motor, my niece has a polaris 425 or something like that and as soon as she turns on the key the fan comes on.

 

I had problems with my 2007 sp x2 800 overheating. The fan was not coming on, I checked the fuses in the fuse box and they were all good. Took it to the dealer and they replaced, what they called a circuit breaker. He said it was somewhere under the headlight pod and wrapped in black shrink rubber, this fixed my problem. I have the part number somewhere, let me know if you want it. Maybee if you used the polaris site to look up the part it would show where it is located.

Surely the fan doesn't run all the time?? It should be on a thermostat, and only run when the engine temp. calls for it. Unless it's direct wired, it shouldn't run all the time.

i know it shouldnt run all the time but it hasnt turned on since i bought it 2 months ago, ive ridden it for hours ,it does seem to be hotter than my old trailboss but the wasnt liquid cooled either. just hate to cook the motor. i did notice the coolant was down so i added coolant.

 

i wouldnt allow it to run all the time.. unless you wanna replace keep replacing fans.. and its not easy!! and i know this!!
