The prices where the sticker prices before our 14% taxes. It was the base no power steering XP550 on Paper it suppose to cost only $100 MSRP more then a AC 550 base model. 2009 Arctic Cat 550 H1 EFI ATVs

But there it was parked next to a $7500 550 AC and the XP550 was $9000 and next to it was a $9300 SP800. The 1000 thunder Cat was only $1000 more.

Our Suzuki dealer are selling base 750 KQs for $9000. Most ATVs have aliunium 12" rims not sure what the advantage of 14" rimes would be if the tires are are the same size. Sure the XP has 26 Radials but the KQ has 12hp extra grunts which cost more then tire to me. 5hp stage kits go for $600.

$9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for a base non-EPS 550?...That is crazy...had to be a mistake...either that or the dealer is out of his mind. MSRP is 7499...and there is no need to even pay MSRP ever IMO.. MSRP for the 850 is 8999..maybe it was an 850 or the dealer priced it wrong..

I,m talking Canadian Prices here ,we are $2000 more on average more then your U.S prices. Your New prices are what out 2-3 year old used ATV prices would be.

I sold a 2000 450 Foreman with 2000 miles for $5000 in 05. You can get new 420 Ranchers for almost that in the states.

FYI have seen the 550XP (non EPS) for about $8300 plus GST in AB. I would think you're getting a little more for the money compared to the AC.

The 14" wheels are used to allow bigger brake rotors. And get the steering center farther out toward the center of the wheel.

Just my opinion, but the XP is better than the AC in maybe every way measurable, except price.

I just used the AC 550 because it was also mid bore 550 and cost $1500 less and they were parked side by side on the show room. The 750 KQ costing the same as a xp550 and the sp800 only costing $300 more is what really freaked me out.

I like the XP 550 but I would have to take a big bore is they cost the same. Don't thing a 550 would do to well in a big bore shootout for a reason.

PS... 26' Big horn Radials with 14" S&S rims go for $750 if the XP advantage is only wheels.

TLC,
If I didn't have the extra fundage for the 850XP and has faced with the big bores you listed, plus the two 550's, I'd buy the SP800. So I guess I'm just being semantic.

Antagonizing is a fault of mine.

If the XP was next to the AC you should have been easily able to see the XP's superior workmanship, design, ect. Again if your gig is biggest engine for the price the 550XP is not for you and the SP800 would be a good choice. Of course you then need to figure out what the 15-20hp of the 850XP is worth to you, if you really are after the power the 850 is darn good. If you like design, handling, suspension, comfort, anti kickback, more ground clearance, more suspension travel, and don't want the higher horsepower engine the 550XP is terrific.

Different strokes for different folks. You like HP for the buck ratio. Others don't want the HP. In my case I could have bought two 850's but I did not want that kind of power for my wife's quad, had nothing to do with money. But I love all the other features that the XP's have.
