Default Rear Axle Replacement 500 Magnum

Well after 3000+ well maintained "but" hard miles I snapped the rear axle on my 99 500 Magnum 4x4. I snapped it while towing my sled trailer with 3 sleds on it. I got no complaints, actually I have nothing but PRAISE & PRIDE in the ole' Polaris she's been nothing but a stout workhorse of a machine. Anyhow I ordered the new axle, along with a seal & bearing kit and was wondering if any of you guys have replaced one? Does it call for any specialty tools of any type? Any tricks to it that I ought to know about? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. MW

Mainewheeler,

Is this the solid rear axle with the sproket on the right and brake on the left? If so I replaced my bearings last winter and may have a couple of hints once you get it apart.
