Default 97 Magnum 425 1.5 inch hole in recoil housing

Hi All,

My buddy went down the river a little in his 425 Magnum, we got it to the edge and it was running, it floated pretty good. When we got it on the rock ledge by lifting it up out of the water, he went to go run it. It started up fine, all of a sudden we heard this grinding sound and there was a 1.5 inch hole through the top of his recoil housing. Again it started it up even with the hole and ideled fine, but then tried to move it and it made a grinding sound. We shut er down, do you think that piece of recoil housing is down in the flywheel? We towed it out.

Thanks,
HoopD

Could be recoil internal parts shattered inside or even one of the older style flywheel magnets could have spun out and cause the damage. Just pull recoil housing off and you should be able to tell pretty quick! Good luck OPT
