Yah, I agree with using the needle nose plyers, that is what I just used on an 04.5 model this last weekend and it worked good.

I use a pair of duck billed pliers. They are a bear with any type you use. It helps for someone to hold the joint and use two hands to install the clamps.

It depends on what style of clamp you have.
I just did my cv boots and used a flathead scewdrive to remove the stock polaris ones.
I bought a "Band-It" banding tool for $10 from american CV. Worked pretty slick and came with a couple of bands.

After using it I think I could have gotten by with a pair of needle nose pliers or vise grips.

Also I don't know what kind of boots you are using but after seeing the aftermarket boots it is all I will use.....the Polaris ones are pretty poor compared to them.

Aftermarket ones are made of a thicker, tougher rubber....you can tell right away they are MUCH tougher.

I quit using bands & pliers. Went to HD tie straps. Works great. Holds tight and no leaks. Easy to R&R.

I dissagree. The aftermarket boots fit terribly and the clamps are more diffiucuklt to install.

Polaris boots only for me!

i have to agree with weedy. ill stick with polaris bots. i got a set from i think it was amarican cv. they needed a banding tool. so i got that. i fixed my boots. got then tight as i could. installed the cv axel. drove it around. and awhile later the cv boots started to leak around the large band. the after market boots i got also seemed great when i got them. but after while they seemed pretty cheazzy. i cant really exsplane it. but ill never get aftermarket ones. ill stick with polaris ones as the fit, and they seal.

imo
