i just replaced some on a 09 500 ho..those were a pain. the small end we could get on with a modified pair of needle nose but the big end we had to take back to the dealer and he even had hell getting it on. instead of the original type that you pull till tight then cut excess these clip together and are none adjustable.

The only way I can see you having a leak around your seal would be if you did not get your clamp tight. It's a tougher rubber so you need to get a good tight band around it. The aftermarket ones I got from American CV are of superior construction.
