2005 sportsman 400 - drive clutch not grabbing belt
Hello all,
I am new to this forum. I have a 2005 sportsman 400. The drive clutch is not not grabbing the belt in high gear. When I put it in low gear, I can barely move the quad. The drive clutch is still not grabbing the belt. I replaced the ramp buttons in the driven clutch and I replaced the drive belt. I have searched around on this fourm but I haven't found anything similar to this issue.
Thanks,

The secondary was preloaded. Let me add a little more to my original post. When the quad is in neutral or park, both the primary and the secondary clutches seem to work as they should. The engine runs fine, the RPMs are where they should be for the amount of throttle that I am applying, but the primary clutch is not grabbing the belt. The primary clutch does move as the throttle is applied, but the primary clutch still does not grab the belt. The only way to get the quad to move is to put it in low gear and ease on the throttle. The primary clutch grabs just enough to get the quad to move but it is still slipping. To get the quad on to a trailer, I have to keep the quad in low gear and get about 5 to 8 foot run at the ramp. If I stop on the ramp, the belt will slip on the primary clutch and I will have to backup and get a run to get on the trailer.
