Have heard story's that the 400's and 500's do not have much range and I ride at wayne and danial boon forest and need some help. If I keep the 400 scrambler stock can I ride most of the day without running out of gas...? Will not be going full out all the time but just having fun.. am old so do not go like most guys but still run pretty good speed.. Help please. want to buy it in week or less and want a 400.

Hey Blacknight~
I have gotten consistantly close to 20 mpg with my Scrambler. It seems that I ride somewhat like you do. A lot of my riding is cruising between 30 and 40 mph. Not screaming down the trail, but not putting along. I guess how long you ride depends on how hard you are on the throttle. I am guessing 22 mpg is the upper limit you could expect on a 400 Scrambler. Expect to see anywhere from 16-20 mpg with average trail riding. I'll put it this way...you can expect to get better gas mileage than your Trailblazer and have a lot more power too!

thanks, I gave my trailblazer to my daughter and want a little better ride and more power and I am hoping the 400 scrambler will cover both items.
am 48 and it hurts a little more after a day of riding than it used to so I like a little plushyer of a ride. 400 scramber should ride a little better than my trailblazer or my 4x4 explore 250 thanks again. I just did'nt want to have to take a lot of extra fuel for a days ride at wayne .

Hey Tim~
Sorry, I guess I could have done the simple math. 19 mpg x 4 gallons=76 miles. You would be hard pressed to get more than that with a Scrambler. I usually assume I will get between 65 and 70 miles per tank when I ride.

I am going to pick up a GPS this week. I will ride saturday and post my results. I also ride with 400s and we will see how they do as well. My guess is I get anywhere from 50-75 miles a tank depending on how much mudding/hot-*******/hillclimbing/racing etc. I do.

I can get about 60-65 mile from a tank of trail riding. More if I take it easy (RIGHT!) Less on a track. I have pipe, head, reeds etc and no real problem with milage. I get further than my buddy on his 99 500 4x4!

Hey Blacknight~
I have a pretty accurate mileage reading for you. I went for a nice 3 and 1/2 hour ride today and covered 113 miles! A lot of the riding was ***** to the Walls riding on snow covered trails so you should expect slightly better readings. My first fill up was after 40-50 mph riding through the woods=14.74 mpg. My second fill up was pretty much the same type of riding=14.07 mpg. My third fill up was after my hardest riding of the day(rarely less than 50mph)=13.98 mpg. I took it a little easier before my fourth fill up due to an accidental rollover...got 15.52mpg. Overall, I averaged 14.56 mpg and 32 mph. I would guess you do not ride as hard as I did. I am 19 and love to go fast and get sideways! Expect at least 16 mpg or 64 miles per tank.
