Default Locaiotn of voltage regulator on Polaris 250 (1988) ?

Hi:

I just received a 1988 Polaris Trail Boss 250 (2x4)

Could someone please describe for me: where exactly is the voltage regulator located ?

("on the frame" is the best I can find after reading, but I discovered that I am having trouble actually following the wires and locating it in reality, short of taking everything apart)

Thanks.

carl

On the frame tube below the fuel tank up towards the steering post. There should be two modules, one is the reverse speed limeter.

not sure on the older models but i would agree it should be up near under the front end and should have sa wire harness plugged into it. some have cooling fins on them. imo.

Thanks for the replies, all.

Had to take things apart today (cleaning the carburetor), and made the most of the opportunity to chase down the voltage regulator.

Sure enough, as pointed out already, it is under the frame tube up where the frame bars all come to a point under the steering column. Access seems to only be possible by removing the fuel tank.
