Unhappy Help with CARB

Ok just cleaned my carb for the first time and it was the first carb i ever cleaned in my life and now its leaking...cant seem to see where but the question I have is that when I took the float bowl off I was taking out the jets and thought that I was taking one out and once I got it out it looked like a needle with a spring on it, and Im not sure what the heck this is....could this be a issue? put back in right away and it sits outside the float bowl when the bowl is on and the tip of the needle sits in the chamber above it just a tiny bit.

HELP guys!

that sounds like your air/fuel screw(depending on what bike) is it leaking out the bowl becuase bad gasket? did you set the float correctly so that it is closing and not flooding out the engine. you should have had 2 jets. main and pilot. main being the big one and there is no springs on either one.
