put the ball joint threads in a vice and tap on the strut, they will pull right out

If you dont have a puller/installing tool you may have to use a little heat on the housing. And put the new ball joint in the freezer for awhile to get it in easily

Default Ball Joints

Ditto on the above posts. Also, if you have a grease fitting on the housing remove it before taking it out and installing the new one. It creates a vacuum effect.

Default Help

Hard to tell by the pics but the zerk fitting should be threaded in. Try spraying some penetrating oil around the ball joint and then tighten down the threaded shaft in a vice. Heat up the housing a bit and pry up on it using the vise as a fulcrum. They can be a pain sometimes!

Zerks are pressed in on the struts.I wouldnt remove it they are still taking grease. You get them out you have to go back with self tapping ones.
On replacing the housing go on Ebay and find a used one.Look for any 2x4 strut from 1998-2008 such as Trailboss,Trailblazer,Sport ,500 0r 400 2x4 Scrambler
