400 to 500 engine swap

400 to 500 engine swap
Will a 2001 400 engine bolt right onto a 2003 500? Both came out of Sportsmans. The 400 out of a 4 wheeler, the 500 is a 6x6 Sportsman.
500 engine rattled, coughed and quit. Oil was way too full. No coolant in it, my son way overfilled it. It will not start. I am suspecting it is junk.
