You can also use a bolt with a smaller diameter than the hole for the pin to tap it out. Make life easier and replace it with a shear bolt/nylock nut. Had problems with the roll pins working their way out on my 02 700 and 05 800. Replaced them with the bolt/nut and never had an issue after that.

So i got the roll pin out..switzomatic thanks for the advise..i will probably go this route. So i have had the pin out for 2 days and spent the last two days beating on the shaft trying to get it to slide back so i can pull it from the diff...does anyone have suggestions on getting this out? i have tried prying and beating with a big sludge and still can not get this thing to let go of the splines...used over a 1/2 a can of PB as well.

Try putting it in neutral and rotating the wheels kind of rough back and forth while jacked up. May free it up enough. Coat the splines with never seize before re-assembly. That shaft is a pain to get off and on too. Cussed like a sailor when I had to take it off to replace u-joints on my 05 800!

Any more ideas out there...i have loosened the front diff...jacked it up, started it ran it and slammed on the brakes but still no movement in getting the entire shaft to slide back towards the transmission so i can pull the front yoke off the splines and then remove from the transmission. I am using a large sledge and am more worried about damaging the output shafts on the trans and or front end...cutting torch sounds good at this point
