Whats a stock sportsman 500 HO speed?

can a 2002 sportsman 400 beat a 400 bombardier outlander?

 

i have a 2001 sportman 400 and it will top out at about 43 MPH and i have a 2006 sportman 450 and it will top out at about 53 MPH if it was a choice between a 400 and a 500 i woud choose a 500

 

def get a new 500ho ... the new sportsman 400ho is actually faster than the 500, but the platform is too small for large adults. a 500ho will probably beat the outlander 400. either way, you can drive faster down the same trail on the sportsman because of the suspension.

the 400 H.O. is faster than a regular 500, yes. At least I have read that it is.

 

if the sportsman 400 is faster than the sportsman 500, than there is no way a sp 500 is faster than a 400 outlander . they are at the way top of the 400 cc class

 

It is only the H.O. version. Not a regular 400. There is a difference.

It looks like the 400h.o. is actually a 455cc whereas the 500h.o is a 499cc. The difference between the two is about 7 h.p.. Not alot until you consider the numbers are 29.2 and 35.7 h.p.. I do not even see the non h.o. engines available for the 400's and 500's anymore so I can't tell you what the difference was. Maybe someone else can.

 

35.7 is all the sp 500 has , my rubicon has 34 and i thought the sp was alot more
