Default New batteries

All -

I was wondering what type of batteries you replace your Sportsman's
with? My dealer has quoted about $130 (OEM) and I hear they can go as high
as $160 for these sealed batteries.

Just called my local "Batteries Warehouse" and they have a ETX 30 crank amps
same dims as the stock for $99.

What do you run and what do you all recommend?

Thx,

R'

Just posted about the same thing in another post a few seconds ago. I run a Duralast from Autozone. It cost less than $60 and my last one held up for over 5 years. The only reason I had to replace it is because I have not really had a chance to ride in the last couple of years ( long story).

I also started keeping a float charger on my battery. They cost less than $10 from Harbor Freight or some place like that and they will increase your battery life significantly. You leave it on all the time and they will maintain your battery and keep it ready to go for you.

I don't think it is a big issue as per the type/brand. My daughters little 150cc China PowerMax still has the Factory one in there from 2006....It looks like a Electric Power Wheels battery...LOL.....Even started in the winter here in Canada.......

If it used often and/or kept in full charge it should last at least 5-6 years or more regardless of the brand IMO....If you plow then maybe a little more CCA(Cold Cranking Amps) Rating I would get........Caper.......

I paid $140 for Poo replacement, after checking Autozone, Wally World, Batteries Plus, etc. Where's this Battery Warehouse located, that's a excellent price. Do you have to put the Acid in battery or does it come charged and ready for install?

I have heard lots of good things about Autozone's Duralast Gold Batteries, I don't have one in my wheeler, but I got one in my mower after my $200 JD battery crapped out after 2 months, and the original JD Battery lasted 13 years believe it or not, anyway, they have a good warranty, 3 or 5 year?, I can't remember

Check out the Odyssey batteries at Portable Power. At the prices you're being quoted, you might as well buy an Odyssey Battery--about $110-150, before $20 rebate. Odyssey batteries are both a deep discharge AND a high output battery (usually mutually exclusive). They are built to military specifications.

Well, does your quad get jostled around? used in harsh environments, subject to lots of vibrations/hard landings/shocks? --just like military vehicles?

The Odyssey batteries are built to take the abuse, have a long shelf-life/low self discharge rate and longer life, and have greater capacity than standard batteries. They are sealed and can be used in any position. They are perfect for quads.

Okay as for the $60 for the Autozone Duralast Gold, any difference from Sportsman
500 to an 800, are they all, the same or would I need a higher output for a bigger motor?

Please advise, thanks for the info.!

Just came across this site....has a lot of different choices for ATV batteries. Looks like batteries for everything else too.
