IMO, a service manual is priceless. I've done an X2 and it was easy because there is about 7" more elbow room. I haven't done my HO yet. Remove the plug (looks like a bolt) on the recoil cover. Pull recoil slowly to line up mark on flywheel. That is Top Dead Center. Remove rocker cover (the hardest part in my opinion, needed to hit it pretty good with hammer handle to get it loose.) Check valve clearance with .008 feeler gage. If not correct, loosen lock nut and adjust with screwdriver. Tighten lock nut while holding screw driver in place. Replace rocker cover. Don't tighten too tight, the screws will break. Don't ask.

Thanks for the info. I only have about 70 hours on it,but the valves rattle through the mid range to the top end. is this normal? The dealer said" they some times need adjusting at around the first few maintenance intervals. Any thoughts
