hey guys, just bought my little girl a 04 predator 50cc. she can ride it for about 15 minutes, it begins to sputter, then the motor quits. it starts back up only after cooling down for a short period. any ideas? thanks! mike

 

Mike: The '04 Predator is a 2-stroke, right? Sounds like you MIGHT be suffering from a mild piston seizure. Is that a "mixer" or does it have oil injection? Either way, make sure it is getting 2 stroke oil in with the gas mixture or exactly what you describe is what happens - engine runs a while B 4 the piston gets too hot and sticks in the cylinder. Once it cools, you can start it again, warms up, sticks again, etc. .

 

thanks for the reply. its fuel injected and is producing plenty of blue smoke. how else would i know if it was not getting enough oil in the mixture? all my fuel lines are straight and clear. possible stator or coil? compression? how can i test these things? thanks for the help so far!
