Default technical ? about scrambler air box

I need some help about my airbox.
I have a 99 scrambler 500 4x4 h.o
its has a supertrapp ids2 pipe, K&N stage 1 jet kit, and a K&N filter with outerwear..
My thinking in which i need help in is:
I want to cut the top of the lid of the airbox to just the outer edge
then:
cut a outerwear prefilter to cover the hole in the lid
Then:
mill out a aluminum plate bracket to bolt to the plastic lid and pinch the outerwear holding it on the lid securily....
What i need to know is............now i have to rejet my carb correct because of the higher air flow......
which way do i go on the jet higher or lower??? or do i move the clip up or down on the needle setting. Or both

ANYbody have any idea????

It takes more than just rejetting to get the CV carb to work right with an opened up air box.
HPD makes a kit to mod the carb that is great.
