Default Rear CV boot help

I've read the sticky here and I'm pretty sure I can replace the rear inside boot (near the tranny), but I'm not sure it needs replaced because I can't find a tear any place. I did however find that is has slipped off of the indentation on the shaft and is slinging grease. Is it possible to take it apart and re-grease everything and re-use the boot and clips if they aren't damaged? Also what would cause it to slip off the indent in the first place? I jumped a few times this weekend but I wouldn't think that would cause the problem. I think the joint will be ok because I caught it pretty fast.....Thoughts please!
Thanks!
