I'm about a week away from buying a ATV. Still a little nervous about a Scramblers weight and problems I see on the forum. If you have one, what was your final factor to get one, and do you have any regrets. I'm ready to shell out $5799 for a yellow one, and want to make sure I'm making the right choice.

I, like you have the same problem. I am abought two weeks from a new machine and cant decide what one to get. Most likely it will be anouther scrambler for now because it is the only machine on the market that combines sport with 4x4. Even if it is 30 pounds heavier than last year. If 4x4 was not so important to me i would not even consider the machine because the 2wd versions fail miserably when compared to other 2wd sport machines. the only way this machine is any good is in a 4wd version. It is probobly the sporties 4x4 on the market, and one of the heaviest 2wds. If i lived somewhere south where snow was les of a concern i would own a DS 650 or a Raptor. Polaris has not won me over on their reliability, but i bought this machine second hand so i will give them a second chance to prove themselves with a new one. If I have as many problems with it though, it will be the last Polaris I ever own.

Going from a Sportsman to a Scrambler will really impress you if you want a fast, sporty, 4x4 thrill ride. As stated before, it will be much sportier and funner to throw around and it will handle the bumps much better. The only spots the Sportsman is better is in really thick mud, rocks, and slower longer rides. Besides that the Scram is one amazingly versatile machine.

Good luck!

sabot I sold the sportsman 500 so I could build my house. In fact I traded the sportsman for the sheetrock in my house, you got to love bartering. Dont get me wrong I loved my sportsman but I needed more power,I have friends with Banshees and 400ex. They think i'm stupid to get the Scrambler and don't think I will be able to keep up with them. I just want to know if I can prove them wrong with the Scram. 500, there's about a 200lb difference in weight i'm worried about.

Well lets put it this way, you get something from polaris that no other company can match.

The scrambler series of ATV's gives you the looks, speed, and performance of a sport quad.
But also the torque, work capabilities, and comfort of a utility quad.

It don't get any better than that!!!

Reiability should'nt be one of your issues at all.
I'm on my second polaris, and have never had any
mechanical problems at all, other than the wrecks
I've had. Even then the polaris is like a tank. Keep in mind the Polaris is automatic, has a reverse, push button 4x4 and that's not counting all
the aftermarket parts to make the quad really fast
as if it was'nt allready.

If you whant to keep up with your freinds on ther Banshees and ex's you will need to consider something other than a polaris. A Scrambler will not keep up with either of the two machines on dry dirt without major mods. Its wheight alone is enough to keep you out of the lead, espeshaly when you get into the jumps. The scrambler has its place but it is definetly not in the feild of true sport machines. If you are going to be doing serios sport riding than get something more sport oriented like your buddies. But if you are going to be encountering mud or snow and are not so concerned abought keeping up with your buddies in the dry sections then the scrambler will work just fine

I went riding again today with two friends. The one has a banshee that flies, the other has a new 400ex. We ride together often and have a great time. The banshee can blow both of us away but we don't ride the turnpike. In the woods on the trails it's hard to just blow away any decent quad. Too fast and the trees hurt you. We just have alot of fun.
