My 96' scrambler 400 is not engaging in 4wd! I bought it knowing the right front didn't engage, they had a part on order for me to put in. The left front worked perfectly. I installed the part and now neither will engage. I took it back to him and he said the AWD light isn't coming on, so no power to the switch? Is this a common problem with these machines? Could it just be coincindence that it went out the day I worked on the hub? Or did I do something to the electronic magnet?? I checked all the wiring to and from the main circuit board, everything looks good. Any help would be appreciated! (my kids want to go riding!!!) p.s. The 4wd switch is on the throttle.

 

if you dont have power to the switch, you wont have awd is true. did you change or mess w/ any of the wires going to the switch or from the trans switch or reverse override? all of these kinda of work together. the transmission switch tells which gear its in and since you need the override button for awd in reverse they work together if that makes sense to you.

 

No, I didn't mess with anything. I did notice however, it seemed like my reverse override was always on. I didn't really test it out ( I had bigger fish to fry!) I have very little time on it since i've been having problems. I had to remove my plastics (I thought I had to) to change my plug, but it seemed to come over the handlebars smoothly.
