Angry Gas Tank Vent?

Can anyone out there tell me where their gas tank vent line runs to? I had to replace mine as it rotted and broke the dealership told me to run down the frame to the back of the bike and onto the ground, I did that and the firt mud hole I got buried in the mud and water came right up the tube and just bout into the gas tank. The dealership said not to run the vent line into the pod, but the brother in laws 2006 runs right into the pod and when he fills the bike it pours out over everything, this was right from the dealer, he's made no changes to it.

So right now I have it all apart and I have no idea where or how to run the vent line. Do I need a check valve??

thanks

Speaking of, when my machine's tank is full I can see the tank vent line between the body and the pod and it's bubbling. Is this because the tank is full or is something going on I should be worried about?

it should be ran into the handle bars to the pod. dont what the dealer was thinking saying that. as you see for your self what will happen to a low vent line. imo

My concern with running it into the pod is the fuel that comes out when the tank is full and on rough trails and having it leak out, and then running it down the frame causes nothing but trouble. I now have all the plastics off and I have drained the fuel tank right empty. I cant seem to see any dirt in the tank, Im sure some got into.

And I think once again that when I put my windshield back on all Ill smell is gas if I run the line into the pod.....I wonder if I ran it down the frame to the back of the bike and put a one way check valve in....? I know the valves are not 100%.

I just spoke with the dealer here and they said they dont know where to run the vent line. They said I could run down the frame with a check valve or run it to the pod and loop it a few times. They said I might still smell gas when I have the wind shield on. WOW

Are you sure you still don't have a leak on the tank where the line mounts?

If it's routed properly (up over the handle bars and down the steering stem) I would think it wouldn't make a difference with the shield on or off.

How long is the line you're using? Can't remember the exact length on mine, but it was hanging all the way down near the bottom of the frame after it was routed.
