Default slippage

i have a 2001 sportsman 500. i am getting some slippage when i try to go fast up hill. checked belt and it isnt cracked but i read that a new belt measures 1 3/16. mine is just under 1 1/8. is 1/16 wear enough to cause slipping or could it be something else? thanks.

the belt should be setting a little above(about 1/8") the secondary clutch at idle. does the clutches go through thier full range of motion when idled up? did you clean out the clutches whenm you had it apart w/ some compressed air and what not? does it bog it all? wondering what shape the helix buttons are in.

sorry i meant the width of belt is wore about 1/16" compared to what a new one is. clutches do seem to be operating ok. doesnt bog at all. its still apart so i will definately blow out dirt. where do i look for helix buttons? thanks so much for the help.
