Default XP Noise ? ?

Any XP owners experience a sharp metallic bang in the front when the suspension reaches the end of its travel? Kind of like a couple pieces of pipe being banged together. I can also feel it in the handle bars when it happens.

Its not in the drive line, more like suspension. Only at slow speed when crawling over something.

Nothing appears loose or worn.

I've only noticed that on older models. It was because the shocks were frozen.

Hmm..no...are you talking full suspension extension or compression? Do you have a front storage box? Maybe something in there moving around? lol..sorry...seriously haven't had that problem..I have fully compressed mine and had the tires hit the plastic tab that hangs down from the front fenders and make a racket, but it doesn't sound metallic and will only happen at high speeds. Have you checked to make sure the shock bolts are tight?

Happens only at extension and sounds like an "A" frame hitting a stop, if that was possible. Def in the chassis/suspension/steering area, Very solid contact noise.

Hmm...haven't had that problem on mine and I have had both front tires in the air many times lol...have you checked the shock bolts? And also look for evidence of the a-arms contacting the frame tube.

No signs of contact YET, but haven't put a wrench to it yet.

my 94 sportsman makes the same sound and it has a blown strut, no rebound dampening. If i go into a big dip at speed you can hear and feel in the steering wheel the wheel fully extending very fast because there is no dampening in the strut, it just bangs to the end of the strut making the noise (due to the spring pressure). Just because your xp is newer doesnt mean it couldnt have a bad shock, ive gotten a few struts that were bad right out of a brand new box. 2 for a car and 1 for my 94 sportsman.... if you pull up on the rack and fully extend the front suspension you should be able to determing if it is the shock.

So the two places i would look is if the shock is tight, or if the shock is blown.
