KFI mount plate is not upside down. There are two plates for the XP. One is the 100740 Standard and the other is a 100740G.
The standard 100740 mounts the winch so that the bottom of the winch is facing the rider (rotated 90 degrees from the ground). With some winches you may also have to rotate the winch from left to right 180 degrees putting the motor on the drivers side instead of the passengers side. This is because of Polaris's design of having the radiator hose where the leads would end up. Some winches can also have the motor leads rotated witch would eliminate the need to flip the winch to the motor being on the drivers side. You can always rotate the motor cover with the sticker on it if you are worried about the sticker.
The Glacier Plow version 100740G will mount the same as the above listed 100740 and also allow the winch to be mounted with the bottom up. Once again With some winches you may also have to rotate the winch from left to right 180 degrees putting the motor on the drivers side instead of the passengers side. If you where to buy the Polaris Winch kit, you will get there Polaris branded winch that is mounted upside-down with the bottom facing up. The sticker is orientated in the correct direction because they build these winch kits in China for that specific application.
The KFI mount is designed to work with many different winches and allot of winches have different options for orientations and locations of the motor leads. This was all accounted for in the design of the mount.
They came out with the 100740G model because Polaris decided to make the mounting of the glacier plow system mount to the winch mount. This required them to add additional attachment points, make it a one piece design and make the entire mount out of 3/16 material.
Any questions let me know
