1995 Magnum 425 at dealer for $1200. Don't know anything yet.

1985 Honda 250SX (full suspension racy 3 wheeler) for $750. Don't know anything yet.

Or

2000 Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 for $1800. Needs rear brakes. Has new front brakes, front wheel bearings, and rear wheel bearings. Tear in seat and some plastic damage (minimal concern to me)

Either choice I can have by this weekend.

I have a 83 big red that cracked lower case, had a 85 200s I sold with electrical problem. Loved riding them both a lot.

Need something to plow with is up most concern. 425 is auto and has low gear so it would work good enough. Do NOT like the chained 4wd..

 

I would go with the big bear 400. Just my opinion. The Yamaha is shaft drive were the polaris has 3 chains that require constant attention for maintenance. Both have 4 stroke engines. The magnum is heavier for pulling more weight. The polaris has true 4 wheel drive were the yamaha has limited slip 4 wheel drive. (3 wheel drive). Bushings could also be an issue with the Polaris. Just my 2 cents.

2nd that on the Yamaha, my friend bought a 95 Magnum new, had lots of problems with the chain drives, belt cover warped and wore a hole from the belt hitting, electrical problems. Not to say all Polaris are bad, but some models just seemed more problamatic than others. He spent 165 bucks to replace a worn sprocket/front drive shaft assembly,it comes as one piece,he finally just cleaned it up and sold it.

 

If you get the 3-wheeler, I have a Cycle Country plow for one I'd be willing to part with.

 

I'd take that "3 wheeler" over an older Polaris any day, especially going down a steep hill, no wheel slip, no "AWD", and no engine braking, like riding a 700 lb skateboard down a hill, clamp on the one brake wonder and hope it don't roll on you. while you pull that single brake lever for all you're worth, I'll just drop down to 2nd or 1st and ilde on down.

lol about engine braking... seriously guys there are brakes. thats what they're there for, they stop all 4 wheels. in the few times i have ridden down what i considered a steep hill with no engine break on my 94 sportsman, i never once said gee i wish i had ebs. the brakes really had no trouble stopping me and controlling my decent... go figure.. i really prefer my 2005 800 sportsman didnt have ebs. I hate having to stay on the throttle when i could otherwise coast down a slight decline.

 

Not to sound like a dumb @$$, but why don't you just buy a plow for you 800?

 

I have one for it, but I traded it off for a 2006 Predator. Need to change my sig. Still have the plow.
