Hello, I just traded my 400 sport for a sportsman 500. the guy said it is a 96. The vin tag is half torn off so I can't referance the year. Also the plastics has the EBS stickers.
2 Questions.
1. Can I identify the year from the stamper number on the side of the frame. or somewhere else?
2. Was EBS available on the 96 model or has possibly the plastic has been changed?
This is possibly the first of many questions.

Ebs came out in 98 on the Sportsman,he must have changed the side panel maybe. To know if its a Pre EBS 96-97 the rear foot brake would be cable operated,in 98 the brake when to hydraulic. Take the side cover off and look for a small hydraulic reservoir bottle.
