With the comments made, may I make a suggestion....... A heated garage makes winter chores soooooo much easier. I have my attached garage heated, along with my toy barn. Not a huge deal hooking things up then.

Have an American Eagle plow on the 500 and it's the toughest plow I've seen. Get a winch or actuator also. I have the manual hand lift now, and don't really care for it. I usually use my snowblower though that is attached to the JD lawn tractor with steel cab. Actually works better for my driveways.

With my Cycle Country quick pin kit you still have to be close to lined up. But when you get close you lift up the plow tubes and it kinda snaps into position. It still reqires you to kneel down on the ground. When taking off you just hit the little lever and it drops down.

well roofer, I have a heated garage and shed, but I'm usually on the go out in the weather, I just ordered my cycle country kit for my Warn plow, I think all i will have to do is maybe drill one other hole in the "tabs" on the end of the plow, if they don't line up, and if anybody is looking, I bought mine off ebay for $57, which is pretty good IMO

I have a G2 on 550xp because the G1 wouldn't fit. Used all last winter..It is very stout and I like it better than the G1..

Default Provantage Fron Mount

Just installed it last night on my 2004 Sportsman 600 (54" straight blade)... I've been around the Glacier plows (I and II) and Cycle Country.... nothing compares, this thing is built... The blade by itself weighs 71 lbs... the push tube was 43 lbs. In total 131 lbs.
The mount kit installed very easily (detailed instructions w/pictures), and actually sits inside the sportsman frame - 0" ground clearance lost. Very heavy construction - I guarantee the sportsman wll bend first.

Once i get the winch on, I can just pull into the plow and put two pins in. The mount actually has a half-moon cradle for ears (on the push tube) to fall into.

I also bought a superwinch lt2000 and mount kit from cabelas... total dissapointment. The mount kit is a joke. I ordered a KFI mount and KFI 3000 lb winch today - anyone have experience with those?

What type of plow did you install? Galcier1,2 Cycle Country? I'm confused.

MT,

My dealer showed me the new mount for the 500. Doesn't look much different to me... and I sure wouldn't trust it. Besides, I think it's where it mounts to the 500 as much as the mounting plate. I think the one that Moose makes is the same thing... probably the same manufacturer... I'd stay away from it.

Anyhow, I'm extremely happy with the Eagle plow system on mine. The two pins go in and out easy. On the other hand, that new Warn system looks really nice.

Good luck with your decision.
