Default trail boss 250

I just found a trail boss 250 for sale in the paper for $750. I talked to the guy who has it by phone and he says it was his his son's who he has lost overseas this past year. He does'nt know anything about it except that it runs good, newer tires, body in fair shape and it's somwhere in the 90's models he thinks. My question is are these 2 strokes, and what to look for on these models.

It is a 2 stroke. First thing I'd be looking at is the compression.
