Looks pretty fun! But alas, I don't have $3k to get them so I'll just have to rely on my Jeep for the deep stuff.....that's fun too though!

I know. Crazy prices. I've been in a few situations where they'd be nice, but overall for $20k I'll just use my regular tires.
cheers,
cc

Never heard of an "Avid" snowmobile. Is that one of them thar offshore sleds?
Avid is better than flamboyant. I tend to avoid guys that describe themselves as flamboyant...

Grow up. The man lives in British Columbia... and there's just no comparison between riding a sled versus an ATV (in the snow)... i've done both... Have YOU ever tried 160+ HP machine with a 162" track and 2.5" lugs? See those mountains in the background (of his pic) that you can only LOOK at with an ATV... A sled will go straight up them... but you would likely pi$$ your pants.

BTW - here's a vocabulary lesson for you. Webster's Dictionary defines avid as "desirous to the point of greed" or "characterized by enthusiasm and vigorous pursuit"

And yes... i've been offshore with my sled

It's his quad, he paid the ducks for the tracks. Enjoy! Whats to complain about.

I have tried every sled made I think, but one thing they can not do is remain unstuck while doing 2 mph on 5 feet of virgin powded snow while twisting and turning through the bush. I have seen these ATVs do it ,they just have a much higher flotation. Its just up to what kind of winter riding your into.

We went Ice fishing to a fly in fishing lake with our sleds and the lead machine a Yamaha 540 VK, with a low range and 158"x20" track even got stuck, I,m prety sure a AWD tracked ATV would of made it in without a problem though.

Yup, he's right. I'll never make it up those mountains.

Please enjoy your riding & I'll enjoy mine.

The first 2 pics were taken last Sunday and the last was Jan 09. Both were taken in S.E. BC - Canada in the Purcell Mountain range. In the last one, I was on my way to pull a couple of sledder buddys out of the deep powder where they were buried.
