sounds like the seal may be bad on the counter balance.Run it a bit and check again

Ok I got the rope back on(2 hour job lol) got it all together and fired it up for awhile and shut it down to check the cb oil. It looks better everytime I check so I hope I'm good there. A new problom is my starter won't work when I try I just get a click from under the seat?!

if the starter hasn't been used in awhile it may just need taken off and take apart and a good cleaning. if it's rusted together beyond repair search for a new one, there is all kinds of different prices out there. try even e-bay. i got mine from pats small engine parts, cheapest i could find at the time.get a new starter drive too.
the starter is underneath ,it was easier for me to take the gas and battery out and lay the bike on it's side, take the skid plate off ,you'll need to take the rope recoil off again ,2 bolts in there(get them started-not tight just start first on reassembly

Yea I'm gonna try get a few rides in before I tear it down for the winter check out the starter, check the seals and the piston. I was told it had a rebuild awhile back .25 over but they used polaris parts I know the stock piston sucks but how are the over bore pistons from polaris?
